Companies with Ethics - It pays to be ethical

(Above: Graphical demonstration of the success of the worlds most ethical companies)

I recently ran across a list of "the world's most ethical companies" on ethisphere.com. On the list I was pleased to see a former company for whom I worked an internship (Rio Tinto). I would have to agree with eithisphere.com that Rio Tinto is a very ethical company. In my experience they were committed to treating their employees with respect and completing their work in professional manner.

What makes a company ethical you ask? Here is a brief explanation from the article:

"The World’s Most Ethical Companies are the ones that go above and beyond legal minimums, bring about innovative new ideas to expand the public well being, work on reducing their carbon footprint rather than contributing to green washing and won’t be found next to the words “Billion Dollar Fine” in newspaper headlines any time in the near future. These are the companies that stand out among the competition in their industry."

If we as a nation and a consumer can hold companies accountable to a high standard of ethics then maybe the exceptions won't be the ethical companies but those that do not implement ethics.

What is your experience with past employers? How would you rank their ethics?

Buen Dia - What life is all about.

The news these days tends to weigh heavily on the evilness in the world. Imagine if you turned the news on at night and found a report of everything that was good in the world. What if you saw people helping their neighbor build a fence? Or how about a display of young couples visiting the elderly in their rest homes? What would the effect be?
My goal for this blog is to provide a location where people can come from everywhere and share the good that they see and have seen in their lives. Hopefully this will give each of us a better idea of who we are and what this life is all about. In the end I hope this will inspire all of us to focus on the good and do a little better each day of our lives.

Please feel free to email your stories which you would like to post on this blog here
